A contract campaign is a coordinated effort to pressure management during bargaining by mobilizing members.
Purpose: Show management that the members are united, informed, and ready to fight for a fair contract.
• Informational Picketing: Members hand out flyers to the public about the issues
• Petition Drives: Members sign petitions supporting bargaining demands
• Solidarity Actions: Wearing union colors on designated days, buttons, stickers
• Work-to-Rule: Members follow every rule and procedure exactly (slows production without violating rules)
• Social Media Campaigns: Share the union's message publicly
• Community Outreach: Build public support for the union's position
1. Identify the key issues members care about
2. Set clear, achievable goals
3. Create a timeline of escalating actions
4. Assign leaders for each action
5. Communicate progress to all members
6. Celebrate wins along the way
