STRAIGHT TALK · FROM THE LABOR MOVEMENT
Let's clear something up: the labor movement doesn't belong to any political party. Unions are bipartisan — always have been. We've backed Democrats, Republicans, and independents. A union card doesn't ask how you vote. It asks one thing: do you stand with working people?
Which makes what's happening right now impossible to ignore. Look across the current field of candidates and count how many are championing legislation for working people — stronger wages, safer job sites, protected pensions, affordable healthcare, the right to organize. Very few. Maybe none.
And here's the part that should stop you cold: not one candidate has asked to sit down with labor unions for an interview. Not one has come to the workers of this region and said, "Tell me what your members need."
So what does that tell you?
It tells you our votes are being assumed instead of earned. It tells you that when working people stay quiet, the people asking for our votes think they don't owe us answers.
So we won't be quiet. Show up at forums and ask the hard questions. Check every endorsement. Follow the money behind every campaign. And when a candidate finally does stand up for working people — from either party — labor will be there. Until then: we vote our paychecks, not their promises.
