National Action Network — Middle TennesseeNo Justice, No Peace — Inform. Unite. Empower.
The National Action Network is one of the leading civil rights organizations in the nation, founded in 1991 by Reverend Al Sharpton with chapters across the United States. Working within the spirit and tradition of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., NAN promotes a modern civil rights agenda: one standard of justice, decency, and equal opportunity for all people — regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, citizenship, criminal record, economic status, gender, gender expression, or sexuality. The Middle Tennessee chapter, led by Director Sheryl Huff, carries that fight into Nashville and the surrounding communities.
Organizing Middle Tennessee communities around the injustices that affect them — marches, rallies, and campaigns in the tradition of Dr. King.
A direct intake channel: know of a social injustice in or around your community? NAN Middle TN starts the outreach process and stands with those affected.
Community events that inform, unite, and empower — from family support programs to the Mother-Daughter 'Queens' gatherings that build up the next generation.
Connecting Middle Tennessee to the national movement — including organizing for the March on Washington and NAN's national civil rights campaigns.

Leadership
Director, NAN Middle Tennessee Chapter
Sheryl Huff leads the Middle Tennessee chapter of the National Action Network, organizing Nashville-area communities to inform, unite, and empower — carrying Dr. King's modern civil rights agenda into Middle Tennessee. She is a personal friend of our labor organization and a partner in the fight for justice on and off the job.
Labor rights and civil rights have always been one struggle — Dr. King gave his life in Memphis standing with AFSCME Local 1733 sanitation workers fighting for a union. NAN carries that same tradition forward today, fighting for one standard of justice for every person, including the right of every worker to dignity, fair treatment, and a voice on the job.
NAN Middle Tennessee and its Director Sheryl Huff are personal friends of our labor organization. From Nashville to Memphis, we stand together: when workers face injustice, NAN shows up — and when communities march for justice, labor marches with them. Labor Education is proud to feature NAN Middle TN as a community partner in the fight for equal opportunity for all.

Educate. Organize. Mobilize. Take the pledge and stand with the Southern movement.

One standard of justice includes the checkout counter. Digital price discrimination — charging different people different prices for the same goods — lands hardest on Black and working-class communities. See it happening? Report it anonymously and stand with the fight for fair prices.
